How to Calm The Mind

In my experience, when I feel anxious the best way to calm it down is to connect to my own breathing. Usually before any of these anxious thoughts came, I could feel it, so before it got worst, I connect to my breathing, by breathing in and out. Just breathe….in and out, nothing else. I don’t even have time to count how many counts I inhale and exhale. Just breathe….

So, when the thought is in the mind, or maybe outside of me, thinking about this and that, that hasn’t even happened yet, when connecting to the breathing, I could connect more to my body and be more present. Not to the future that hasn’t happened yet nor the past that already passed.

Another thing, it also helps to move around. If I am anxious in the same place, I would go for a walk or just change the scenery. This usually helps me clear the mind. So, movement or change of scenery.
